Welcome to the Veerse Dam Surfing School. We have also been providing kitesurfing lessons since 2003.
Kitesurfing is a challenging sport which brings together other sports such as surfing, powerkiting, wakeboarding and snowboarding. In the long run Kitesurfing is not so difficult and perhaps easier than windsurfing, but the step from no experience to the basic skills - sailing back and forth - is not easily taken. On top of this, the sport is not without its risks. Learning well without risks is only really possible with effective instructions and teaching methods, and with the correct equipment and at the right place. At the Veerse Dam we offer all these.
It is our aim to teach kitesurfing effectively and responsibly. That's why we teach no more than two people at one time, so that we can give you all the attention you need. Our instructors are always nearby, either on the beach or in the water. Once you are waterstarting and sailing a little, you are then coached using a radio helmet which not only helps reassure you, but also provides valuable feedback!
For our equipment we have chosen kites with the High depower concept. The Cabrinha Convert Bow Style kites that we use are extremely stable and very easy to use for waterstarting. What's more, due to their 100% depower capacity, they are also much safer . We have learnt from experience that these are currently the best kites for us to achieve our aim: learn safely and well.
Therefore from us you can expect:
- A select group of well-trained instructors;
- Lessons with no more than one additional fellow learner;
- Sophisticated lesson equipment;
- A perfect location for instruction at the wide seaside beach of the Veerse Dam, or in the event of southerly or southwesterly, winds at the nearby island Neeltje Jans 10 minutes away.
Our instructors are certified by the Dutch Water Sports Union (KNWV) and/or the German Windsurfing and Water Sport Schools Union (VDWS).
